Things to Consider
Before Installing a Swimming Pool - Part Two
When it comes to swimming pools
you have two main choices: in ground and above ground. There are
advantages and disadvantages to each type of pool.
Above Ground Pools
These types of pools are usually significantly less expensive
than in ground pools and can be transported to a new location if you
move. You can make these pools more attractive by surrounding it
with beautiful landscaping and decking. You should be able to find
an above ground pool dealer who will provide set up services, and
some will even be willing to install your decking and landscaping.
In Ground Pools
These are a much larger investment than most above ground pool
options. The good news is that the investment usually pays off with
an increased properly value. Some important steps to take prior to
installing an in ground pool include:
- Finding a qualified pool contractor
- Get at least three quotes in writing
- Make sure that your quotes are all
inclusive, covering items such as permits, labor and all
materials.
- Don’t feel pressured to sign a contract
right away. Take enough time to carefully review your options.
- See if there are any open complaints
against your contractor at the Better Business Bureau.
- Check to see that the contractor hold the
necessary licenses.
- To ensure that you have proof of your
payments, never pay the contractor in cash. Always use check,
credit card, or money order.
Installing a pool is a huge investment. If you
do your research and plan accordingly it is bound to be a source of
relaxation, fun, and exercise for your family for years to come.
