Types of Above
Ground Pools
Above ground pools come in two
main types: hard sided and soft sided inflatable.
Either type will give its owner plenty of fun and
enjoyment. Both types are easily installed and used.
Hard Sided Pools
You will find a wide selection of sizes and depths when it comes to
hard sided pools. Most will have a sheet metal frame and be either
round or oval shaped. Most will have a flexible metal wall with a
sheet metal rail attached to the top to provide strength and
stability. The water is held in place by a vinyl liner that is
attached to the metal rail. You will need to carefully prepare the
ground when installing a metal sided pool and the construction will
be more complicated.
Soft Sided Pools
Over the last ten years these pools have really gained in
popularity. While the most popular shape for a soft sided pool is
rectangular, you can also find round models available. You will find
a wide selection of sizes and depths in these pools that are also
supported by metal frames. Soft sided pools are less expensive than
hard sided pools, but still have a reputation for strength and
durability. You even have the option of ordering a custom sized soft
sided pool.
Almost any surface will work for the installation of a soft sided
pool, including sand, dirt, grass, gravel, and concrete. These pools
can withstand up to 3” out of line at each level. The material used
for the liner is incredibly durable and puncture resistant, being
manufactured using material similar to that used for bullet proof
vests. Most soft sided pools will only take a few hours to assemble.
You will need an electric pump, filter, and ladders no matter which
type of above ground pool you choose to install. The pump will
circulate the water through the pool, the filter will help clean the
pool, and the ladder will make it possible to safely enter and exit
the pool.
Other accessories that both pools will need include a pool heater, a
pool cleaner, and an automatic chlorine dispenser. You can add other
accessories, such as lights and slides, to further enhance your
swimming experience. You will find that above ground pools are much
less expensive than in ground pools, ranging in price from around
$1500 to $10000 depending on size and options. While above ground
pools have the advantage of a lower cost and easy installation,
there are some disadvantages as well, such as the need for
additional landscaping to make them more attractive. You will also
find that they are less durable and long lasting than in ground
pools.
Many people are finding that they really appreciate the price and
ease of installing an above ground pool. They are a great addition
to any home, giving you hours of enjoyment and relaxation.
